Las Vegas is a city that doesn’t need any description, but still, anybody should get informed about it before visiting the most famous sin city in the world. I have to admit: I went to Vegas without any plan, any expectations, and it worked for me. But one of my friends gave me the most useful advice before going there: “Don’t gamble to win, gamble for fun!” And he was right!
We arrived in Vegas late by night, but we were able to see the city far from the highway; it is just as we imagined: extremely light during the night, shiny, glamorous, a bit dangerous, but incredible! It will definitely surprise you! If you are not passionate about gambling, two or three days are enough in Vegas to discover the city and feel its taste. And I am planning to reveal you the best things to do in Las Vegas.
You simply cannot go to the sin city and not gamble. This is definitely one of the best things to do in Las Vegas. No matter if you are passionate about gambling, or you never tried before, you have to try it. I have never played blackjack, crap or roulette before, but I loved doing it there. First of all, you need to know that most hotels have free lessons for its guests, so go for it! Second, try the low entry tables, and enjoy the free drinks you will get. And last, have a budget for gambling; don’t pass it, and don’t be said when it’s over. Consider it an investment in fun!
You should definitely gamble in different casinos, try different tables, and machines. I almost won a couple of times, and the feeling was great! Do not forget to visit the old town (Old strip of Vegas), which is not that touristic anymore, but where you can experience nice casinos and a bohemian atmosphere.
The tour of the hotels
In Las Vegas everything is cheap, including the luxurious hotels, because the managers want you to spend the money on gambling. We were hosted at the Stratosphere Hotel, the tallest in Vegas, and it was great. However, we did a tour of all those famous hotels you see on TV’s, including The Bellagio, The Venetian, New York New York, Luxor, Excalibur, Caesar, Treasure Island, and many others. You can enter freely in any of them, visit their casinos, and have fun! It is for sure one of the best things to do in Las Vegas.
The burlesque shows
Almost every hotel in Las Vegas has its own Cirque du Soleil show, or a stand-up comedy or burlesque show. Or all together, and trust me, Vegas is the place to see such a show. We decided to go to Zumanity – The Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil show, and it was simply incredible. The ticket was around $80, but it was worth it. If you never tried a burlesque show before, go for it!
The Bellagio fountain
If you are curious about the best things to do in Las Vegas, you probably heard about The Bellagio fountain show. The most luxurious hotel in Vegas has an incredible fountain that offers free shows at specific hours. It is not as amazing as you may think, but you don’t want to miss it! The Treasure Island hotel also has a public show with pirates, while The Mirage hotel has a volcano show! Admire them all!
Tips and Tricks for visiting Las Vegas
As you can see, the best things to do in Las Vegas involve a lot of fun, so expect for three very intense days. However, you need to pay attention to some things:
- Las Vegas is a city that sleeps during the day and wakes up in the evening. All you can do during the day is to enjoy your hotel’s swimming pool or to go shopping.
- Always watch for your belongings, because there are many homeless people and pickpockets in the city!
- As you will notice, the drinks are for free in casinos, but try to stay sober! Once you get drunk, you will start losing money, and that is dangerous.
- Try the roller coasters at the New York New York hotel, the botanical garden at the Bellagio, and the shark aquarium at the Mandalay Bay!
- Admire the view of the city from the Stratosphere tower and try their crazy rides.
- Have a brunch buffet at one of the hotels and enjoy being treated as a king!
- Party and have fun! Forget about any rules and enjoy Vegas.
In the end, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!
